Socrative

Socrative is available as a website or app. It allows you to create multiple kinds of activities for students. Students can access the activities on their tablets, smartphones or via website. For any activity prepared, you get instant results and class or student level reports. 

Registration is pretty simple, you just have to enter your email address and create a password. Socrative automatically assigns a room number to your account (you may change this number). Students will have to enter this room to join the class and answer questions or take a quiz. The first thing you can do with Socrative is create a quiz. You can add 3 kinds of questions to it: multiple choice, true/ false or short answer questions. You can also pose quick questions to students during class and get immediate feedback. With a space race, you can separate the students into groups and have them answer quiz questions as a game. 

For me, one of the most interesting tools in Socrative is the exit ticket. It’s a way to quickly get feedback from students at the end of class. When you run an exit ticket, your students will be asked the following questions:

1. What is your name (last, first)?

2. How well did you understand today’s material? (This is a multiple choice question.)

3. What did you learn in today's class?

4. Please answer the teacher's question. (The teacher has to give an “exit” question before the students leave class.) 

After answering the questions, the student can click Finish Exit Ticket or Let another student take the Exit Ticket, if your students are sharing a computer/ tablet/ smartphone. You will then have all students' results compiled so you know how well they understood the lesson that day and what you can do to help them the following class. How amazing is that?
